One does not need to be a scientist to recognise that the main cause for the tragic loss of our biodiversity is in fact New Zealand’s unsustainable Primary Industry sector.
Industrialised animal farming, vast exotic pine forest plantations, destructive fisheries and apiculture inevitably results in ruinous habitat degradation and destruction. New Zealand’s excessive application of toxic agrichemicals, plus the extreme use of dangerous chain poisons to control ‘pests’, escalates the well-documented catastrophic mass extinction of insect, bird and reptile species.
This is not to say, that invasive introduced animals should not be carefully monitored and controlled where necessary. However, if we have to kill any animal it has to be: 

– Firstly – scientifically proven that the species is indeed as harmful as is commonly believed.
– Secondly – it has to be done as humanely and respectfully as possible.
– Thirdly – the method has to be sustainable and target specific… absolutely no ‘collateral damage’.

Such an ethical solution does indeed exist! …but our government rejected it and to this day continues its toxic terror.
Unparalleled in the entire world is New Zealand’s use of one of the most dangerous poisons known to man, to which there is noantidote.
Sodium Monofluoroacetate, commonly known as ‘1080’, is a broad-spectrum, universal poison, harming any life form dependent upon oxygen, down to soil microbes.
The Nazis have considered using ‘1080’ in their holocaust death camps for their ‘End Solution’, but rejected the idea, deeming it too dangerous for their guards.
The FBI has classified ‘1080’ as a ‘super poison’, as only one teaspoon of the raw poison can kill over 100 people. For these very valid reasons, it appropriately is banned or highly regulated in most countries in this world.
Aerial blanket poisoning with ‘1080’ started in New Zealand about 70 years ago, to eradicate invasive mammals, in the name of protecting our declining biodiversity. In 2012 this ‘militarised poison warfare’ against Nature evolved into government policy and was named ‘Predator Free New Zealand 2050’. New Zealand dumps about 3.5 tonnes of pure 1080 active ingredient per year, which translates into roughly 900 to 2,300+ tonnes of total manufactured 1080-laced bait, into our forests, waterways and farmlands – endangering our economy, our lives and that of our trade partners and tourists visiting NZ.
